MNF 23rd Teams

If, like me, you’re an avid fan of MNF, you’ll be familiar with the feeling of watching a game you’d never normally give a second thought to and leaping out of your seat every time Gingbag ventures over the halfway line or cursing your stubborn “there’s no way he'll keep this up” stance as Damon Letzer bags yet another hat-trick.

Picking these teams every week almost constitutes a full-time job. But now, as if those bastards at hadn’t already devoured enough of my time, I'm gonna launch a poll to decide the ultimate MNF team of the last 20 seasons.

Be warned: this will consume most of your day, if not week, and you will become embroiled in friendship-endingly intense debate with your mates and colleagues. Also, if you forget last weeks subs, I’ll never invite you again.

MNF 23rd

Hi there,

Have you seen the awesome video of a holographic BLUE performing in Chengdu yet? It was bloody amazing. If you haven't seen it, watch it here. soon. Then come back and tell me which other former great MNFer you'd like to see back - you can have your say.

Seeing things that aren't really there is a weird experience, eh Martin Atkinson?

Enjoy the soccerette...

MNF 16th TEAMS

Hello

If I'm honest, i was initially feeling a bit upset that this weekend comprises only two days, making it half the size of last weekend’s four-day egg-mauling bonanza. But then I realised…
SOMETIMES SMALL THINGS ARE BETTER THAN BIG THINGS

1. Luka Modric > Emile Heskey
2. Wearing a watch > dragging a grandfather clock around with you everywhere you go
3. All the other Kardashian sisters > that giant one
4. Flatscreen tellys > those massive boxy ones that took up half your lounge
5. Tinie Tempah > Will Smith

So there. Let’s all enjoy this weekend for what it is - the brave, forty-eight hour little champion of good times.
PS If you can't watch the FA Cup semi final RIGHT NOW coz you are about to get on a flight to Hong Kong, then what are you playing at?

Enjoy the game COYS… and I will collect the doe next week!

MNF 16th

Yo

A Yuletide meal at an expensive restaurant is disturbed when a woman starts screaming. ‘My son's choking! ‘ she cries. ‘He’s swallowed the sixpence in the Christmas pudding! Please, anyone – help!’

Without speaking, a man stands up at a nearby table, and walks over nonchalantly. Smiling pleasantly, he grips the boy by the gonads and squeezes: the boy coughs, and out pops the coin.

‘Thank you so much!’ beams the relieved mother. ‘Are you a paramedic?’

‘No,’ replied the man, ‘I work for the Inland Revenue.’

So here are two girls taking pictures of themselves in their bedrooms to feature as a Soccerette. They want you for flirty chat online. or just want to show you their socks. Ya dig?

MNF 2nd TEAMS

Hi there,

April Fool’s Day is without question my least favourite day of the year. It gives complete twats the freedom to act like complete twats, provided they shout “APRIL FOOL’S” at the end of being a twat.

“Haha! I punctured the tyre on your car! April Fool’s!” Twat.

“I sent a text to Gingbag pretending he's playing MNF on monday! LOL! April Fool’s!” Twat.

“I replaced your emergency inhaler with a party blower! April Fool’s!” Twat.

Even if you are a dedicated ‘japester’, April Fool’s Day is actually the worst day for you to perform your hilarious pranks. Everyone knows it’s April Fool’s Day, so they’re on their guard. It’s like trying to pickpocket someone while wearing an ‘I’m A Massive Pickpocket’ T-shirt and humming the Pink Panther theme tune.

Let's just call it 'Sunday', eh?

Enjoy the game

MNF 2nd

Hi there,

Sorry its late but in case you hadn't noticed, SUMMER'S HERE. In March? Isn't it too early? No. Summer is a state of mind, not tied to specific months. How can I tell? Easy:

— Girls are suddenly dramatically more attractive because they have removed their outer layers of clothing and added hilariously oversized sunglasses that make them resemble bugs (sexy bugs).
— Sometimes, Gingbag will be walking through the high street at, like, half-ten in the morning, and there'll be a bloke with his shirt tied round his waist and a can of lager in his hand, and he'll look at him like he's the odd one that bats for the other side.
— I've been looking up barbecue recipes online and genuinely thinking about setting stuff alight, shoving cheap meat on top of it for an indeterminate duration and then eating it. (very Gino De Campo)
— Cider is out of the awkward hinterland between "mulled" and "chilled", meaning we can drink it shamelessly in wasp-filled beer gardens the land over.
— I'm looking at cars with open-topped roofs and feeling jealous of their combovered owners. — I've had the heating off for three whole days and I might bloody well open a window soon and don't you even try to stop me.

So that settles that, then. Summer's here. Break out the shorts. Pass us our flip-flops. Get us a cocktail stick with crusty pineapple stuck to it. WE ARE READY.

MNF 26th Teams

Hi there,

Today is a day laced with sadness, for three treasured MNFers cant get in the starting line up.

One of them (Richard Freed) is going to play somewhere else (idiot), one of them (Spencer S) is waiting for a drop out (genius), and one of them (Josh Abrahams) is waiting in Islington for the call (SURE?).

I'm determined to overcome my melancholia and cherish this triumvirate of heroism for the giants among men that they are. They've each done many incredible things - far too many to recount here - but here's one thing we'll remember about each of them:

Richard Freed once had blonde highlights put in hair, & wrote an articulate dissertation on the subject of To Cool For School. If you Google "QEB?" - which a surprising number of people do - you'll see what we mean.

Spence once played in a MNF 9 aside game

Josh Abrahams once brought some new shinny trainers to MNF and made the day of every single one of us.

Fare well, good men. I salute you. Need to know ASAP if you cant make it……..

MNF 26th

Hi there,

MNF was really BRINGING IT this week. Just in time for The Apprentice (back on Wednesday), Britain's Got Talent returns tomorrow, and BBC's "It's a lot like The X Factor but not in a 'you-can-sue-us' kind of way" The Voice also debuts this weekend.

Simultaneously, Pizza Hut are doing one of those "Don't give us that much money and we'll give you more pizza than you'd normally expect for that amount of money" deals.

So lets do it all again on Monday, Soccerette Anyone?

Enjoy the weekend...

MNF 19th TEAMS

Hi there,

Sachin Tendulkar scores hundreth hundred! Archbishop of Canterbury resigns! George Clooney arrested! Tony McCoy wins the Cheltenham Gold Cup!

All of the above happened last week, but none of them shot through the nervous system like a rocket here in the workplace. That only happened minutes ago, just as the working day was starting from a beery weekend. From nowhere, there were screams not befitting our technical status as grown men as a Singer emailed to say he was IN. There was a violent pounding of pulses as I crowded around the screen, greedy with excitement, for a glimpse of 2 keepers in tonights game.

MNF 19th

Hi there,

Can you hear church bells ringing? That's the villagers celebrating - yeah, the villagers of BRITAIN, that's right - because last night I left the office without a coat on to pick up some stuff for dinner. It was all streamers and trumpets, dancing girls and marching bands out there. They've even built a giant wicker man wearing a giant wicker coat and then burnt it on Oxford Street in an effort to banish the spectre of old man Winter and his wicked icy breath.

Other yearly celebrations you can look forward to are the Taking Our Jumper Off In At Gingbag's Garden Spectacular and Slow Walk Home From Work Appreciating Nature Eve. Although that one's harder to predict, and they often get it wrong. Still, it's nice that they try, eh?

COME TO US, SPRING.

Friday MNF Giveaway: sixteen places of definitely-not-a-first-date-psychological-thriller-game of MNF - on Monday - up for grabs. Your details please. Thank you.

Enjoy the soccerette...

MNF 12th TEAMS

Hi there,

What's your favourite number in teams? I'm hard-pressed to decide. A few weeks ago we did 9's last week we did 8's, and it got me thinking.

Is it the straight-line, no-nonsense purity of 8, eager to take their place alongside a a class keeper such as the Brad? Like a sandwich in a packed lunch or deli platter?

Is it the acerbic majesty of 9, getting close to the real thing, and having less time on the ball asunder to share with fellow MNFers in acidic communion?

Is it the gravy-laden tang of anything with the number 5?

The exotic lure and vibrant picking of 6's?

The intoxicating yet mouth-ruining stinkpowder of the full 11, which can only be played on full size pitch and followed up swiftly with gum?

The empassioned debate has kept me pretty bloody busy this weekend, so lets try 9's...

Enjoy the game - don’t forget subs and those with an X you know the drill…..

Hi there,

It's a mere 20 days until British Summer Time! To mark this glorious fact, let's play a lovely game of 'MNF'. I'll think of 8 players to make up the two teams, you email me yes/no questions and see if you can crack the 16?

You won't win anything, but oh what fun we'll have, except Robert Baum, who is continually knocking me on his subs, so unless like everybody else, He pays £5 every week will not be featured in any more games, its not fair on the other MNFers or me pal, and there are plenty of other bods wanting a game that will pay properly. All other games at Power League and Highgate all charge £6-£7.50 – for £5 you get video highlights (so all your beloved can watch on Facebook & Twitter, new balls, extremely funny emails from me and some very hot Soccerettes every Friday…..its a no brainer!!

Enjoy the weekend..Soccerette Anyone?

MNF 5th TEAMs

Hi there,

Wowzers, what a weekend. Nothing quite beats the rush of finishing a MNF team sheet and seeing it hit the interweb. But in between I had the news that our MNF star Shimon Defraud has had a baby boy. Nice timing. He's good like that. See the pics on his BBM, on Blackberry's now…

Tonights Game will be chock-full of war, treachery, sweat, lies and lust; a bit like the MNF kitchen. If you're in take a holler here, oh and if you cant make it let me know ASAP we have MNFers waiting in the wings

Enjoy the game...

Hi there,

WARNING! STAND BACK! OUTRAGEOUS FACT COMING YOUR WAY!

Dan Reese, who celebrated his 900th appearance for MNF with a last-minute winner against Whites on Monday, has played more MNF games than Marc Didge has. Give that one a spin down the pub.

Enjoy the weekend…Who fancy's the Soccerette???

MNF 27th TEAMS

Hi there,

Earlier today, I opened the door to Meeting Room Six and it whacked into the corner of a massage table. "That's not normally there," I thought. "And MNF Maverick Freed isn't normally tucked up under some plush pink blankets, having his bare feet rubbed by an attractive blonde lady while some relaxing whale song fills the room."

I'm still confused over WTF happened yesterday, but d'you know what he said to me?

"Have you got a lighter? It's just i need to light our candle."

It's been one of those days.

See you later

Hi there,

Today, unlike most Fridays, I am having a party Shimon Defruad will be there with his brother and their smiling faces will be seen by loads of single geezers while conducting high-octane chat up lines with the waitresses. I don't know if you've ever asked Ratzger how good he is at FIFA while ducking under the bar of an exclusive members-only club in Shoreditch, but it's quite difficult. And bruising.

So if you fancy some life-affirming supes-realistic sweat-fest McQueen is the place to be. Gino De Campo might even make an appreance?!, email your details and tell me your favourite submission hold if you wanna come down?

Soccerette Anyone???

MNF 20th TEAMS

Hi there,

I did it. I told you I'd do it. On Friday of all days, I'm trying to get all the MNFers in the same place (out the back of the loading bay) at the same time to pull little pieces of paper out of a hat. I'm having a birthday party, see. Everyone's been assigned a different method of partying and from here on in it's all very serious indeed. Want to come? You can. Just email me names for Guest list…

Hi there,

Brace yourselves... it's a Valentine's special. I polled 35 of you fine folk about the mushiest day of the year. And what did I learn? All sorts of things. Some genuinely romantic, some tinged with cynicism, some simply not suitable for the inside of a greetings card. For example: "The shot of Gingbag in Thailand below" SHOW OFF. - Its my birthday next Friday the 24th so if anyone wants to join in the celebrations let me know should be a corker, I also need to know if you fancy the Soccerette's, who of course, are coming……

Enjoy the weekend…

MNF 13th TEAMS

Hi there,

As I write this, it's quarter-to-eight and not yet light, which can mean only one thing: Spring is coming! Newborn lambs! No more shuffling around like an old lady on icy pavements! Muddy walks through the countryside! Girls with their coats off! Or, at least, girls wearing just one coat! It's all so exciting.

Even more exciting is the happy fact that MNF is back tonight. And we are 1 short if you know someone ask them DO IT, DO IT NOW!!!

Enjoy the game see you at 7.50pm...

Hi there,

People make you vote for all sorts, these days. Who do you want to run your country? Guilty or not guilty? Evict the desperate fame-hungry one or... the other desperate fame-hungry one? What should Gingbags new rabbit be called? Which Z-list celeb is better at ice skating?

BUT NONE OF THIS REALLY MATTERS.

THERE'S AN IMPORTANT MATTER TO BE SETTLED.

Who Fancy's the Soccerette???

Enjoy the weekend...
